Providing a hands-on, “gooey,” and not to mention, educational experience, the 10th Table Top Science Program took place at Earth - Bread Brewery in Mt. Airy on Tuesday, Jan. 24. A combination of hands-on activities and demonstrations on various themes in chemistry and other sciences, the Table Top Science Program is the creation of Chemistry’s Dr. Fred Schaefer.
As a community outreach initiative, a variety of science activities were conducted by USciences students Hiu Yan Cheng C'12, Amber Ross PhC ’12, Christian Tooley C'12, Megan Mohadjer Beromi C’14, and Brian Koronkiewicz BC'14. In addition, Dr. Jouni Valisaari from the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland, who is visiting USciences to establish a collaboration in chemical education, participated.
Dr. Schaefer is planning three more shows, which run from 6 to 10 pm, on Tuesday, Feb. 21; Tuesday, March 20; and the one-year anniversary that coincides with the Philadelphia Science Festival on Tuesday, April 24.
