Presented by Alpha Sigma Tau, Women’s Week will begin on March 24 with a plethora of events—both day and night—to celebrate and support the women of USP. On Monday, March 24, and Friday, March 28, a table will be in the lobby of the Wilson Student Center from 11-3 p.m. with a canvass on which you can leave your handprint for a one-dollar donation to go to the People’s Emergency Center. Also, the table will help Student Health and Counseling (SHAC) collect used cell phones to be refurbished for abused women as well as help the Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) collect old prom dresses, shoes, and jewelry.

Monday, March 24: At 8:30 p.m. in the Wilson Cafeteria there will be a dating violence awareness bingo hosted by Omega Chi Psi.

Tuesday, March 25: A Battle of the Sexes will occur at 8:30 p.m. in the Wilson Cafeteria. Modeled after the board game of the same name, this event is open to everyone. Participants will compete for prizes in teams of five, which can be formed prior to or at the event.

Wednesday, March 26: At 7:30 p.m. in McNeil STC 145, the selfless and empowering Barbara Wallace will speak about “Women in Service”, drawing from her experiences serving on DYFS’s Board of Directors and the Board of Directors for the Special Olympics. Wallace has devoted her life to others and has used her position as the wife of a N.J. Justice for the benefit of her community. All are encouraged to come out and listen to her share her experiences. The event is expected to run about an hour.

Thursday, March 27: No week-long celebration of women would be complete without some sweets! A dessert social will be held from 1-3 p.m. in the Faculty Dining Room of Wilson. This is an invite-only event, but all faculty members are welcome to attend. The gathering will celebrate women in science with faculty members and other University members, as well as a representative from the People’s Emergency Center, a shelter in Philadelphia.

•“Girls Night Out” will be from 8:30-10:30 p.m. in the Wilson Cafeteria with a Mary Kay consultant on hand. Everyone is invited to attend.

Saturday, March 29: Omega Chi Psi will co-host the 3rd annual 5k race for humanity to benefit CureSearch. For details please visit: http://www.usp.edu/5krace/

Come out to celebrate women with prizes, games, fun, and friends! All events are free and open to everyone on campus, except for the desert social. Women’s Week is sponsored by SGA, IGC, SHAC, VAWA Grant, Student Life, and Inter-Greek Council organizations. All events also count for five star points.
