Kelleen Flaherty Named Assistant Professor of Biomedical Writing

Kelleen Flaherty was recently named assistant professor of biomedical writing in University of the Sciences in Philadelphia’s Mayes College of Healthcare Business and Policy. She had served as an adjunct assistant professor since June 2000.

An accomplished medical writing professional, Flaherty has authored countless publications relating to the science and medical fields and has years of experience as an independent contractor. Her clients have included Transcept Pharmaceuticals, the Sleep Medicine Education Institute, Accel Health, and the International Longevity Society.

In addition to her adjunct role at University of the Sciences, Flaherty served as an adjunct professor of anatomy and physiology at Bucks County Community College from August 2008 through May 2009. Earlier in her career, she worked as a senior medical editor for Medical Communications Media, Inc., and as an associate scientific director for the science and medicine division of Publicis Medical Education Group.

Flaherty is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the Sleep Research Society, and the American Medical Writers Association. She attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she earned her bachelor’s degree in zoology/anthropology and her masters of science degree in biology.

Flaherty, who is a native of Larchmont, N.Y., currently resides in Jamison, Pa.
