University of the Sciences men's basketball player Garret Kerr has been named the 2012-13 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year in voting done by the league's 14 coaches and announced by the conference office today. While sophomore guard Brianne Traub has been named to the CACC women's basketball all-conference team.
Kerr dominated play throughout the 2012-13 season, earning CACC Player of the Week honors a record-tying six times over its course, including three straight from February, 11-25, 2013. He was the only CACC player to earn the honor more than once. Kerr is also the first player in conference history to earn CACC Rookie of the Year as a freshman and Player of the Year Award the next season and the first CACC men's basketball player to ever earn both awards during their career. Traub was elected to the All-CACC Team as a First Team honoree. She earned CACC Player of the Week honors twice this year and is the current conference leader in scoring, averaging 18.7 points per game. Traub has started all 26 games for the Devils and ranks second on the team in rebounds (7.4/game), field goal % (44.2%), steals (1.8/game), and free throw % (64.2%). The Devils begin play in the CACC playoffs on Saturday, March 2 with the No. 3 women at No. 2 Dominican at 2 p.m. and the No. 3 men at No. 2 Bloomfield also at 2 p.m.
