The University Assessment Steering Committee has awarded its 2007 Program Improvement Awards to the Department of Biological Sciences and to the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Dr. Lois Peck, Chair of the Assessment Steering Committee, presented the awards to Dr. Bill Law (Biological Sciences) and Bob Morgan (Intercollegiate Athletics) on January 24.
The Program Improvement Award is given annually to one academic program or department, and to one non-academic program or department under Academic Affairs, for demonstrating through their annual assessment reports how their assessment activities help them create initiatives that improve their programming, particularly as it helps improve student learning and development.
The Program Improvement Awards will be expanded in 2008 to include administrative and operational units in the University, as they are now implementing their assessment plans and providing assessment reporting.
