Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD), the National Honor Society for First-Year Students, hosted the Induction of New Members on Friday April 3, 2009, and welcomed 105 outstanding new students.
Alpha Lambda Delta is an honor society for students in their first year at an institution of higher education. The national organization’s mission is to "encourage superior academic achievement, to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their unique roles in society." At University of the Sciences, the extension of an invitation to join is based on first semester grades of first-year students. Students must attain a minimum GPA of 3.5 and be in the top 20 percent of the class.
However, this year, the GPA cut-off for new members was 3.69, which means the top 20 percent of ALD’s first-year class has the highest GPA of any previous class inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta.
