Chemistry’s Thuy Hien T. Nguyen PhD’16 won a highly competitive award at the The Philadelphia Section of the American Chemical Society 11th Annual Student Poster Sessions, Feb. 10, 2011. Nguyen was competing against students from University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, Temple University, University of Delaware and others. She joins Jessica Geer PhD’11, who won the award last year, and Whelton Miller PhD’11, who also won the award three years ago. All three students are PhD students in computational chemistry.
Nguyen’s poster "Molecular Dynamics Studies of Amphiphatic Peptides Embedded within a Lipid Bilayer", (Thuy Hien T. Nguyen*, Dr. Zhiwei Liu, and Dr. Preston Moore) won top Poster Presentation in the Graduate Students Category. The award was sponsored by DOW Chemical Company.
Nguyen holds a NASA-funded covenant fellowship, designed to promote a stronger future for minorities in the sciences. She was also recently named the student merit award winner at Founders’ Day.
