Students from the doctor of occupational therapy, doctor of physical therapy, and doctor of pharmacy programs participated in an interprofessional education experience at the University of Pennsylvania on Friday, Oct. 26.
Students worked in interprofessional teams with oncology, gerontology and geropsychiatry fellows, nurse practitioner students, social work students and chaplain students from UPenn to learn about interprofessional communication within the context of a case scenario and family meeting. This experience occurred under the auspices of the University of Pennsylvania’s Geriatric Education Center of Greater Philadelphia.
University of the Sciences is a consortium partner with the Geriatric Education Center of Greater Philadelphia. Faculty from USciences who participated were Vice Chair Dr. Pamalyn Kearney and Assistant Professor Kimberly Gargin from the Department of Occupational Therapy; Assistant Professor Lora Packel and Associate Professor Dr. Carol Maritz from the Department of Physical Therapy; Assistant Professor Dr. Diane Hadley, Assistant Professor Dr. Anisha Grover, and Vice Dean Dr. Cathy Poon from the Department of Pharmacy Practice/Pharmacy Administration; and Chair Dr. Claudia Parvanta and Assistant Professor Dr. Jessica Sautter from the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences.
