The Residence Hall Council proudly announced its success in collecting 47 pounds of food for Philabundance, the region’s largest hunger relief organization. USciences residents provided RHC with the donations last semester.
The food drive began in early November and by its closing at the end of the fall semester, RHC’s collection included everything from canned soups, vegetables and raviolis, to chips, crackers, instant noodles, granola bars, and cereal.
“Residence Hall Council is comprised of dedicated student leaders who strive to help make residence life as enjoyable as possible,” said Valentina Pampulevski PharmD’16, RHC vice president. “Our student leaders like to coordinate events on campus that help build a community amongst residents of USciences. This food drive was a great success and really enabled us to reach out and help the community.”
RHC plans to host a food drive each year during the holiday season. In addition, the group is in the process of organizing a dodgeball event where student participants will have the opportunity to play against Student Life staff. A few more programs will be coordinated by the end of the semester.
