University of the Sciences will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 17, 2011, with a full slate of activities. The events are free and open to the entire University Community.
“Samson College of Health Sciences is honored and privileged to organize a day of celebration for Martin Luther King Day,” said Carlos E. Moreno, assistant professor of occupational therapy. “Our planning has developed beyond a celebration to include a day of service for our entire community.”
Take part in a day of remembrance for Dr. King and service to others less fortunate in our community.

Gwen Bailey is a licensed social worker who has been serving the community in child welfare for 36 years; 22 of them as the executive director of Youth Services, Inc. She will be sharing her perspective on service from her years of experience. In 1964, Bailey had an opportunity to meet Rev. King (second from left in the photo).
Also, join an open panel discussion with our service partners regarding social issues, service and how as professionals, we are responsible to serve the community.

o Assembling “shower” and “Med” packets for House of Grace (no website) who serves men who are homeless.

- Sample sized shampoo
- Soap/Shower Gel
- Toothpaste & Toothbrush
- 500 mg Vitamin C tablets
- Generic multivitamins with iron (One A Day)
- Cough drops
- Non-alcoholic cough syrup
- Lip balm (chapstick)
