Dr. Cathy Poon was appointed associate provost for interprofessional education and clinical programs at University of the Sciences. She previously served as vice dean of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy (PCP) and professor of clinical pharmacy.
Dr. Poon will work with all professional disciplines across the University to present a unified approach that distinguishes USciences at clinical sites.
“Dr. Poon was selected because of her expertise and initiatives in this area,” said Dr. Heidi Anderson, provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Dr. Poon brings 21 years of experience to this new position. She began teaching at USciences in 1992 as an assistant professor of clinical pharmacy. She has also served on the advisory board to the secretary of health of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania since 2006 when she was appointed by then Governor Edward G. Rendell. In May, Dr. Poon was named a fellow in the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group in addition to other accomplishments.
Dr. Poon received a PharmD from Medical University of South Carolina and her BS degrees in pharmacy and toxicology from St. John’s University. She also completed a hospital pharmacy residency at Medical University of South Carolina and a specialty residency in Pediatric Pharmacotherapy at Oklahoma University Health Science Center.
