Kimberly A. Koschineg MOT’01, OTR/L, CLT, CEO and co-owner of Advanced LymphedemaTherapy Services was presented with Young Alumnus Award at University of the Sciences’ Alumni Reunion on Sept. 28, 2013. The award is presented to an individual who is less than 40 years old, graduated from USciences within the last 15 years, and who has contributed in an outstanding fashion to the profession, to science, and/or mankind.

In 2005, Koschineg and her husband Todd W. Stefan saw a need to provide lymphedema therapy and cancer rehabilitation services and launched Advanced Lymphedema Therapy Services, LLC, in Langhorne, Pa. The outpatient clinic has generated more than 2,000 patients in six years.

After graduating from Mount St. Joseph Academy in Flourtown, PA, in 1994, Koschineg began her college career at Drexel University on a full basketball scholarship. She was ranked as one of the top 10 female basketball players in the country before transferring to University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 1997 where she received her master’s degree in 2001 and was a collegiate basketball all-American.

She worked at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA, following graduation. She would become a specialist with a degree from Klose Norton School of Lymphedema Therapy and created the first outpatient lymphedema clinic in Bucks County at St. Mary’s. Koschineg left to study at the Foldi Clinic in Hinterzarten, Germany, and received her advanced training certificate in lymphedema therapy, becoming one of two therapists on the East Coast with this certification.

Koschineg has spoken nationally at conferences, support groups, medical schools, and hospitals. She has been highlighted on 6ABC and Fox 29 for breast cancer and lymphedema education and prevention.
