For the past three years USciences has been very well represented at conferences on teaching in higher education. Faculty who are doing this kind of research come from all departments and colleges. We had such a presence at a meeting that one conference attendee asked me how big USciences is as we had so many presentations. She was at a much larger university, and they had far fewer.

Eighteen USciences faculty made 15 presentations at four, peer-reviewed and competitive conferences. (For example, USciences faculty were chosen to display 13 percent of the 39 posters at the Lily-East Conference in Bethesda, MD.  In addition, USciences faculty gave three of the 75 workshops. There were 259 submissions for these slots.)
For their poster, "Using Self-Assessment Rubrics to Develop a Teaching Improvement Plan for New Faculty," Amy Janke and Phyillis Blumberg received the 2011 Lilly Poster of the Year award.
