Whether you’re in it to be the first person across the finish line or just looking to have fun, it’s a win-win situation at USP’s third-annual 5K Race for Humanity Walk/Run on Saturday, March 29. Sponsored by Omega Chi Psi, the race begins at 9 a.m. outside the Athletic/Recreation Center (ARC) on USP’s campus. All proceeds will benefit CureSearch, the National Childhood Cancer Foundation Children’s Oncology Group.

From the ARC, the race takes its entrants on a tour through the tree-lined streets of University City before finishing back at the ARC. There will be water stations along the course and an athlete’s closet for contestant timing. Marshals and police officers will be present along the route to ensure the safety and organization of the approximately 500 runners and walkers expected to participate.

After the race, awards will be given in Alumni Hall to top finishers and USP students will host “Family Day.” From 11-2 p.m. families can play games for prizes and have free health screenings. The post-race festivities will also include refreshments, free t-shirts and raffles for race participants, as well as ample parking and restrooms for all.

Those interested in running or walking can register at 7:30 a.m. in Alumni Hall on race day or fill out the online registration form at: http://www.usp.edu/5kRace/RaceForHumanity Form08.pdf
Pre-registration pricing is over, but adults can still sign up for just $20, and children 14 and under for $10.

Regardless of where you finish, your participation will support CureSearch in their race to end childhood cancer. CureSearch unites the world's largest childhood cancer research organization, the Children's Oncology Group, and the National Childhood Cancer Foundation, through a collective goal of pursuing research to find the cure to cancer.
