Assistant Professor of Chemistry Dr. Frederick T. Schaefer was chosen as the recipient of the 2010 Faculty Special Recognition Award presented on Dec. 20, 2010.
Not only does Dr. Schaefer carry a full course load, but he helped to develop a new forensics component of instrumental analysis, assumed the new role of advising transfer students for all majors, continued his reseach pursuits, and helped to oversee the chemistry lab renovations.
"The past year exemplifies Fred’s enormous contributions for the University, which he consistently makes
with a wide smile and a joke for anyone who feels less than upbeat," it was noted in his nomination form.
The Faculty Special Recognition Award is awarded upon recommendation of the academic deans and department chairs in recognition of outstanding faculty performance in teaching, scholarly activity and professional service.
Dr. Schaefer has been with the University since 2000.
