
William R. Law, PhD, has been named associate dean of Misher College of Arts and Sciences at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Dr. Law had served four years as chair of the Department of Biological Sciences, where he is a professor of biology.
In addition to his role as associate dean, Dr. Law will retain his duties as director of the Forensic Science Program. Prior to joining the University in 2005, he held a variety of positions within the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, including associate professor of physiology, director of surgical laboratories, and director of graduate studies.
Dr. Law spent 14 years as a research physiologist at the West Side VA Hospital in Chicago, Ill. His extensive academic background includes experience on the faculty of Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill., Barat College in Lake Forest, Ill., and Gama Filho University in Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil.
Dr. Law’s research interests include investigating the role of nucleotide metabolism on integrated organ and cellular function of the heart and macrophages in inflammatory responses, focused on the role of protein-protein interactions involving adenosine deaminase in regulating responses to sepsis and septic challenges. He currently holds a grant from the National Institutes of Health titled Lilliputian and the control of retinal neurogenesis.
