University of the Sciences launched a United Way workplace campaign that generated more than $16,000 in funds for the national non-profit. The total included more than $11,000 raised by faculty and staff…plus a $5,000 matching donation from top donor, Stephanie Zarus P’85, PharmD’88. Dr. Zarus is an adjunct professor of pharmaceutical and healthcare business, as well as biomedical writing, and a member of the United Way’s 2012-13 campaign cabinet.
Under the leadership of President Dr. Helen Giles-Gee, USciences is re-engaging with community partners like the United Way…so members of the university community can expect additional opportunities to lend a hand.
Participants had a chance to get a little something back through a campaign raffle, which awarded prizes based on numbers assigned to donors as they made contributions over the course of the campaign.
Prizes awarded during a final drawing included: United Way T-Shirts, Baseball Hats, and Water Bottles; a smattering of Starbucks Gift Cards…and the Grand Prize: a $50 American Express Gift Card.
“This year’s raffle was a great source of fun and camaraderie, offering faculty and staff the chance to win a prize and lend their support to the United Way,” said Amy Holvey, director of corporate and foundation relations. “The real winners are the participants, who take pride in supporting the United Way and its efforts to strengthen the community and quality of life.”
