You don’t have to travel to Vancouver to taste Olympic victory this year. Instead, go head-to-head in the 2010 USP Olympics for a chance at campus-wide glory!

The Opening Ceremony on January 26, 2010, will kick off the games with a colorful parade of teams and a student vs. faculty basketball game. More than 40 campus organizations are already set to go for the gold in 12 different events that will test their mental, musical, physical, and teamwork skills.

The stakes are high with cash prizes of $100, $50, and $25 going to the gold, sliver, and bronze winners of each event. The overall gold medal Olympic Games winner will be announced at the Closing Ceremony in March, and will own year-long bragging rights and permanent recognition on the coveted trophy displayed in the ARC. The brothers of Phi Kappa Psi took home the title in last year’s games.

Alumni, along with students, faculty, and staff, are encouraged to get into the spirit of the games and will have the opportunity to face-off against the student and/or organization gold medalists in each event.

”The Olympics are becoming an annual tradition that unifies the students and organizations within the University through friendly, but steep, competition,” said Jesse Goldberg PharmD’14, coordinator of the 2010 USP Olympics. “We’re hoping to foster even greater school spirit and pride amongst the entire community of students, staff, faculty, and alumni.”

The USP Olympics are brought to you by the Student Government Association (SGA). The games were first held in 2009 and were organized and founded by former SGA VP of Finance, Tom Franko PharmD’11.

It’s not too late for individual students to sign-up to be a part of the SGA team. Students, faculty, and staff, please request more information or direct questions to Jesse Goldberg at jgoldberg@mail.usp.edu.

Alumni, if you have questions or would like more information on how you can get involved, please contact Pat McNelly at p.mcnell@usp.edu or 215.596.8856.
