PPA Presents Schreiber P’71 with Coveted Bowl of Hygeia Award

The Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association honored Robert S. Schreiber P’71 from Yardley, PA, as the recipient of the 2011 Bowl of Hygeia Award sponsored by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation and National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA) during PPA’s 2011 Annual Conference Awards & Leadership Dinner at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, PA, on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011.

Schreiber has been a member of the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association since 1975 and has served as Chairman of the Association’s Third Party Committee and is currently serving as Director of the Association’s Academy of Community Pharmacists. He is an active member of the National Community Pharmacists Association, the Bucks County Pharmacists Association, having served as vice president and president, and has served as Chairman of the Board for PARD Association of Community Pharmacists in Philadelphia. With his passion for the pharmacy profession, he has testified before the Pennsylvania House and Senate Committees protecting the interests of pharmacy. 

As a Philadelphia College of Pharmacy graduate, Schreiber has shown himself as a selfless and dedicated individual to his family and community. He supports Morrisville High School sports teams, Morrisville police, little league and the CYO program at Holy Trinity Church in Morrisville via advertising and donations from Burns Pharmacy. He is also a member of the Upper Makefield Business Association (UMBA), volunteers on the board and at the Grange Fair through UMBA. 

The “Bowl of Hygeia” Award is presented annually by participating pharmacy associations in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the 10 Canadian provinces. The “Bowl of Hygeia” is the most widely recognized international symbol of pharmacy and derives from Greek mythology.  The recipients are selected by their respective associations for their outstanding record of community service. 
The Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association is a statewide professional organization representing pharmacists in all practice settings united for the purpose of assuring a high quality of professional practice, through the establishment and maintenance of high standards of professional ethics and education, promoting patient pharmaceutical care which is concerned with preserving and protecting public health, and protecting the professional integrity and economic security of our members.
