Dr. David R. Leonard has been named founding director of the Graduate Physician Assistant Program and chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at University of the Sciences.
Dr. Leonard brings 10 years of clinical practice experience in the acute care and correctional settings. He has been a physician assistant educator for many years with the Saint Francis University and Pace University-Lenox Hill Hospital programs.
Dr. Leonard is also involved online with Saint Francis University’s master of health/medical science programs as well as a clinical trial implementation course with the University of California- Berkeley. In November, Dr. Leonard will be presenting at the United Kingdom Association of Physician Assistants’ annual conference in London.
He has been involved in the clinical research industry as a consultant monitor for the past decade with a specialty in the interventional cardiology device and vascular fields. He is currently working on two trials which will take him to clinical sites throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
Dr. Leonard is also an amateur actor and director having participated in some 40 productions over the years with various regional and community theatres. He received an “Outstanding Achievement in Acting” award from the Theatre Association of Pennsylvania. He is also a professional voice-over artist having voiced several national and regional television/radio commercials while living in New York City.
Dr. Leonard received a bachelor of science in premedicine from Pennsylvania State University. He completed his physician assistant training and received his master’s degree from Saint Francis University. He received his doctorate of health science from Nova Southeastern University.
