The Genesis Center for Aging and Education (CARES) at University of the Sciences will host a seminar on Wednesday, Nov. 9 focusing on Community Mobility. The final talk of the fall semester features Genesis rehabilitation services expert Susan Touchinsky, OTR/L. The talk will take place in Woodland 119 at 5:30 p.m. with refreshments to follow. It is open to the public.
Touchinsky is a clinical specialist with Genesis Rehab Services (GRS) and a master clinician in driving and dementia. She has worked for GRS and with the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Driving Program, presented at AOTA 2010 and 2011, presented at 2004 Association of Driving Rehab Specialist, co-authored a chapter in Driver Rehabilitation and Community Mobility (2006) and the new AOTA Driving & Community SPCC course (due out 2012), was a contributing author in the GRS Community & Transportation Guide, and completed her training as a Car Fit Instructor. She is passionate about providing comprehensive care, working to continually evolve her own practice, advocating for the occupational justice of all patients, and sharing her knowledge with others.
Genesis CARES focuses on student recruitment, education, and research. Students work in a multi-disciplinary environment and are exposed to community programs that make an immediate impact in the community, attend learning seminars presented by Genesis staff, and have access to research and data.
