More than 400 runners, walkers, and volunteers will take part in the Fifth Annual 5k Race for Humanity Walk/Run to benefit ActionAIDS on Saturday, March 27 at 9 am.
The event, sponsored by University of the Sciences’ service fraternity Omega Chi Psi, will once again wind its way through the Woodlands Historic Cemetery. What started as a student initiative in 2006 has continued to grow with an expanded field of participants. Its mission to benefit charity has remained unchanged.
“Each year the members of Omega Chi Psi choose a different charitable organization to be the Race beneficiary. These students do an amazing job of planning and organizing the event and are very dedicated to the selected cause,” said Mary Kate McGinty, Associate VP for Community and Government Relations.
Over the last four years, the annual 5k Race for Humanity Walk/Run has raised more than $40,000 for both local and national charities, including The American Red Cross Measles Initiative, HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy, CureSearch, and the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.
Participants receive a free t-shirt and there is an opportunity for raffle prizes. An award ceremony will recognize the best times in numerous categories.
Registration fees: Prior to March 19th: $20 adults, $10 for 14 and under. Race day: $25 adults, $15 for 14 and under
