Dr. Shelley Otsuka has been named assistant professor of clinical pharmacy at University of the Sciences’ Philadelphia College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Otsuka studied her pre-pharmacy coursework at the University of Illinois and obtained her doctorate from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. She completed her PGY-1 residency with an emphasis in ambulatory care at Ohio State University and received a teaching certificate.
Dr. Otsuka will be teaching case conferences to pharmacy students, will serve as a preceptor to fourth-year pharmacy students, and will give seminars. In addition to her patient care and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Otsuka will also focus on her research to develop and promote new innovations in the clinical practice. Her focus will be on chronic diseases and prevention.
Dr. Otsuka, who will be teaching for the first time, maintains a practice site at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where she will work with medical residents in an outpatient setting.
A native to St. Louis, MO, Dr. Otsuka now resides in center city Philadelphia.
