When the final name was called and USciences class of 2010 claimed their hard earned degrees, it was no surprise that a number of students were progressing straight into the workforce.
A survey of the 2010 graduating class shows that 71 percent already had a job or placement in a graduate program before graduation. Historically, after three months, that number shoots up to 90 percent.
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts that careers in the sciences and healthcare will continue to grow in the coming years. Ten of the 20 fastest growing occupations are healthcare related (http://www.bls.gov/oco/cg/cgs035.htm and http://www.bls.gov/news.release/ooh.t01.htm).
“University of the Sciences is uniquely positioned to take advantage of these trends,” said Provost Dr. Russell J. DiGate. “From pharmacists to physician assistants to research and business positions, students who enroll at the University are able to focus their interests into any number of science and healthcare career opportunities and get them.”
