The OT Department at USciences has undergone some administrative and faculty transitions this summer. Dr. Michelle Cohen will step in to serve as interim department chair following her most recent role as chief of staff to USciences president Dr. Helen Giles-Gee. Dr. Cohen will also retain some of her responsibilities as the associate dean of Samson College of Health Sciences. She takes over for interim chair Dr. Pamalyn Kearney who left in June to pursue a faculty position in Georgia.
Dr. Rondalyn Whitney will serve as the interim program director for the doctor of OT (DrOT) program, while Dr. Jennifer Pitonyak will be the vice chair of OT as well as and the interim program director for the master of OT program. Dr. Paula Kramer, who is on sabbatical for the fall 2013 semester, will resume the directorship of the DrOT program upon her return. Dr. Kramer will also continue to direct Genesis CAREs and the Carfit Grant during her sabbatical leave. In addition, Roger Ideishi announced his departure in July for another faculty position. The OT Department is in the process of searching for a permanent chair.
“I would like to thank Dr. Pitonyak, Dr. Whitney, Dr. Kramer, and Dr. Cohen for their upcoming service to the OT Department. Their dedication to their students and programs, the college, and the University is greatly appreciated,” said Samson College dean Dr. Laurie Sherwen. “Their service continues to ensure that USciences OT Department will not miss a beat and be ready when our returning students and new students arrive in August.”
