Dr. Charles N. McEwen, the first R. Everett Houghton Chair in Chemistry and Biochemistry, has won the 2011 Pedersen Award presented by DuPont. The award is the highest scientific award presented by the company and is named in honor of Nobel Laureate, Charles J. Pedersen.
Dr. McEwen is "recognized for his outstanding scientific contributions to the advancement of mass spectrometry through developing the fundamental understanding of ionization mechanisms, most notably, MALDI, ESI, and ASAP, and their application to the benefit of DuPont businesses and programs."
An internationally recognized chemist, Dr. McEwen joined the University in September 2008.
