2016-2017 Cohort

Christopher J. Drozd, PharmD 2016

Christopher Drozd graduated in the spring of 2016 with his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy (PCP). Chris has extensive experience in retail pharmacy having worked at CVS for six years along with an independent pharmacy for two. While in the PharmD program at PCP he began taking courses toward his Masters in Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Business at Mayes College of Graduate Studies. From his first class in the MBA program he knew the pharmaceutical industry was his destination. Chris’s desire to understand the nature of business partnerships within the healthcare landscape lead him to pursue a fellowship in managed markets.

“This partnership between USciences and Genentech creates a fellowship unlike any other. Split into two segments, the Managed Markets Fellow spends one year as USciences faculty. As faculty the fellow gets the opportunity to pursue a teaching certificate and graduate-level education all while rotating between a variety of companies in the managed care landscape. Among these companies are PerformRX, The Boston Healthcare Group, and Decision Resources Group, pACE and IMS Health. Transitioning into the second year means getting 18 months of on-site experience at one of the world’s leading biotech companies, Genentech. I am incredibly grateful to start my career off where my college education began, and have the opportunity to give back to this wonderful community.”

Radha ShahRadha Y. Shah, PharmD 2015

Radha Shah graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy with her Doctor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Studies. Throughout the past several years, Radha has fashioned a unique background by interning with CVS Pharmacy, Clara Maass Medical Center, and GlaxoSmithKline. Radha’s interest in managed care began through her heavy involvement in Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) for which she held the position of Chapter President. Shortly after, Radha participated in a five-week clerkship experience at McCann Torre-Lazur. This expanded her knowledge of healthcare business and set the foundation for her Managed Markets Fellowship. Away from work, Radha enjoys camping, cooking, scrapbooking, and international traveling.

“The Managed Markets Fellowship is a distinctively designed program that offers a unique combination of internal and external experiences to prepare fellows of various backgrounds for commercializing pharmaceuticals. Within the University, fellows are given opportunities to lecture in courses, conduct & present research at national conventions, collaborate with professors to publish scholarly activities, and pursue further education. Away from the University, fellows rotate through a wide range of organizations where they become well versed in the field of managed care and are given a plethora of opportunities to deliver materials to clients, network, and explore new roles. Moreover, throughout the entire fellowship program, a wonderful group of versatile professionals are generously available as mentors to support, encourage, and foster fellows as they transition into Genentech, a revolutionary leader in biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. I am very honored to be a part of this program and excited for what lies ahead.”
