InterLibrary Loan (ILL) is a service through which library materials not owned by J. W. England Library may be requested from other libraries. USciences participates in various library consortia that provide rich resources for expedited borrowing of books and journal articles.
All currently affiliated USciences faculty, staff and students are eligible to use ILL - even distance students. There is no charge for this service. Limited ILL services are available to alumni for a fee.
You may request journal articles and dissertation through ILLiad. Books may also be requested, but they must be unavailable through E-ZBorrow. If you are using ILLiad for the first time, you will have to initially set up your account. Once the account is created, simply log in to place and monitor your ILLiad requests.
Most articles are delivered via the web in .pdf format, with notification of availability sent to valid USciences email addresses. In cases where an article cannot be transmitted electronically, a photocopy will either be mailed (generally through campus mail), or placed on file behind the Circulation Desk. Patrons are notified by phone or e-mail when books arrive for them.
E-ZBorrow is a service that enables you to borrow
a book directly from any library participating in PALCI, the Pennsylvania
Academic Library Consortium, Inc. To use E-ZBorrow, just log in (*), locate the
book or other material you need, and request it. The book will
be sent from the lending library, and will be available for pick-up
at the Circulation Desk. The book will be checked out to you for
28 days from pick-up date. Patrons also have one automatic renewal.
*The method of login depends on the date your ID card was issued:
**Due to changes to the University ID card, in some cases neither the "Lib:" number nor the 7-digit ID number completes the login. Usually this can be quickly corrected, so if you cannot login to E-ZBorrow please contact us via Ask a Librarian to report the issue. Please include details about your ID such as the "Lib:" number (if present) and the ID number (let us know exactly how it appears). Also, tell us the year you started at the University, and whether or not this is a replacement ID card.
Can't find the book you need through E-ZBorrow? Then simply send your request in through ILLiad.
