Find Books, Videos & Kits

The Basics

The J.W. England Library has a specialized collection of 85,000 volumes. If we do not have the book you need, we can get it for you from another library.

• To find books and other materials the library owns, search Our Catalog (cataLyst).
• To find books available in electronic form, view our list of eBooks.
• If we don’t own the book, use E-ZBorrow, to borrow it from another library. If the book is not found via E-ZBorrow, then you may request it via ILLiad.
• If you want to get the item immediately, our consortial agreements may allow you to access it at another library. Check Using Other Libraries to see if a library convenient for you owns the book you want.
  

 

How to Find Books

Search Our Catalog (cataLyst) by keyword, title or author.  The catalog will list the location and call number for each book.

Circulating books are on the 3rd floor, arranged by call number.  The call numbers of most of our books begin with letters of the alphabet.  Older books begin directly with numbers.  To see an arrangement of call numbers and the subjects they represent, click here.

Non-circulating items are located on the 1st floor (Reference and Reserve).

Circulating books can be checked out at the 1st floor Circulation Desk with a current USciences ID card.

How to Find Videos

In Our Catalog (cataLyst), set the Quick Limits to "Videos".  Then search by keyword or title.  Videos are stored on the 2nd floor.  They can be borrowed by faculty and staff ONLY, and circulate for one week.  They should be checked out at the 1st floor Circulation Desk with a current USciences ID card.

How to Find Kits

In Our Catalog (cataLyst), set the Quick Limits to "Kits". Then search by keyword or title. Kits are located on the 1st floor, Room 103. Kits circulate for one week. They can be checked out at the 1st floor Circulation Desk with a current USciences ID card.

Ask A Librarian if you cannot find the kit you need.
