Stanley Buch P’48
, is the oldest and longest member of the Lancaster YMCA’s resident camp for boys, Camp Shand. At 92 years old, Stan has been a member for 82 years. As a camper and, later in life, a counselor at Camp Shand and adult Y leader in various capacities, Stan has given much of his life to the organization. Stan also spent many years working in his father's pharmacy, Buch’s Pharmacy, which he ultimately took over. In 1971, he sold the business to work at the “Y” as director of membership and public relations. Six years later, he returned to drug stores, serving as a relief pharmacist at Strasburg and Smithgall’s pharmacies. He retired at the age of 77. Read more here.

Hank Breslin MS’81
, of Lansdale, Pa., was recently honored as one of the six inaugural inductees to the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute Drug Inventors Wall of Fame. Breslin and his peers were recognized for significantly advancing the treatment of such debilitating diseases as HIV, epilepsy and hepatitis C infection. Now head of medicinal chemistry for Atrin Pharmaceuticals, Breslin is the co-discoverer of eluxadoline (Viberzi®), a treatment for irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea. During his 25-year career at Johnson & Johnson, Breslin designed the enterology chemistry program and led the team whose research efforts culminated in the development of eluxadoline. The drug was approved by the FDA earlier this year. Read more here.
