University of the Sciences' class of 2015 assembled for the final time on May 20. The festive celebration at the Liacouras Center for the nearly 550 pharmacists, scientists, and healthcare practitioners marked an end of one milestone and the beginning of a path towards others. Joining the class of 2015 were honorary doctor of science degree recipients James C. Appleby P’87, RPh, MPH, executive director and CEO of the Gerontological Society of America; and Stephen G. Brush, distinguished University of Maryland professor of the history of science.

Bachelor's Degree Conferment Ceremony
The University's fourth annual bachelor's degree conferment ceremony was held on May 15 for approximately 200 students in the doctor of occupational therapy, doctor of physical therapy, and doctor of pharmacy programs.

USciences' Business Programs Receive Full Accreditation: The Department of Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Business earned full, 10-year accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) for its BS and MBA programs.
Chemistry Prof Earns Teaching Award:
Dr. Madhu Mahalingam has been named the recipient of the Philadelphia Local Section of the American Chemical Society's Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in Chemical Science.
PA Student Says She Has 'Vast World of Medicine at Her Fingertips' at USciences: The first time Emily Strittmatter PA’17 stepped foot onto campus at USciences, she sensed a strong passion for science and healthcare education.

Lewis Gryziewicz P'86 was named vice president of regulatory affairs at Macrocure, a clinical-stage biopharma company. Dr. Gryziewicz previously spent 16 years at Allergan, where he held senior-level positions within regulatory affairs.
Mary Bryant PharmTox'89 was recently appointed to Penn School of Veterinary Medicine's newly created position of executive director of the Office of Students. Before joining Penn Vet, Dr. Bryant worked for Merial, a Sanofi company, in field veterinary services.
Lowena Tam PharmD'06 was married to Raymond Lee on May 9 in New York. Tam is a pharmacist at the Derald H. Ruttenberg Treatment Center at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Read story.

OT Students, Faculty, and Alumni Mingled at Event
The University's Delta Iota Chapter of Pi Theta Epsilon, a national honor society of occupational therapy, hosted "Dinner with a Scholar" on March 12. Diana Ramsay, president of the American Occupational Therapy Foundation, was the guest speaker, and the event attracted students, faculty, and alumni. The USciences Alumni Association co-sponsored this event.
