The 12th annual Research Day and 27th annual John C. Krantz, Jr., Distinguished Lecture are set for Thursday, April 10. These events recognize undergraduate and graduate student research efforts, highlight aspects of faculty research activities, and showcase the diversity and growth of research pursuits on campus. Alumnus Dr. Michael S. Wolfe C'84 will deliver this year's lecture, "Molecular Mechanisms of Alzheimer's Disease and the Road to Therapeutics." Faculty and student research awards will also be presented during this event.

USciences Receives a $2 million Commitment for its Mayes College: The funds given by Kate P'76, PharmD'78 and Jim Mayes will support the students and faculty of the College. This impactful commitment will be recognized at a celebration on Thursday, May 8, at 2 p.m.

Highlighting Social Media's Impact on Healthcare: Mayes College will host its annual "Making the Connections" program on Tuesday, April 22, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., in the STC. This year's focus is Social Media in Healthcare. Watch video here.

Edward J. Bechtel
P’81 has been elected by the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association Educational Foundation to serve a two-year term on its board of directors. He is the owner of Bechtel’s Pharmacy in Slatington, Pa., where he has served friends and neighbors in his hometown for more than 30 years.

Nishaminy Kasbekar
P’93, PharmD’95 has been elected vice president of the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association Educational Foundation board of directors. She is director of pharmacy at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

Christa J. Wagner
PMM’07 and Michael Policella were married on Oct. 19. Christa is senior marketing manager for a division of Independence Blue Cross and Michael works for the Philadelphia Police Department.

Biology Students Connect with Alumni at Recent Event

More than 40 biology students attended the Biology Student/Alumni Panel on March 20, which was hosted by Alumni Relations, Career Services, and the Department of Biological Sciences. The event was well attended by the University community, and students had the opportunity to hear about the chosen career paths of three alumni. Click here to see more photos.

Students had the opportunity to discuss careers with alumni who graduated with biology degrees. More than 40 biology students attended to speak with biology graduates from USciences.

USciences Celebrates 80th Anniversary of Rifle

USciences celebrated the 80th anniversary of rifle at a special event on March 22. Nearly 50 rifle alumni traveled to the event from as far as New Hampshire and Virginia. The highlight of the day was a visit from Bill Shea, the son of long-time head coach Col. William Shea. More photos here.

Alumni Gather, Catch Up Over Brunch and Mimosas
