Position: Part-Time Exercise Science & Wellness Management
Rank: Instructor / Assistant Professor
Reporting to Program Director, Exercise Science & Wellness Management the Instructor serves within the Department of Kinesiology to promote continuous improvement of the quality of instruction in Exercise Science & Wellness Management, works with support staff in the area and coordinates responsibilities of the assigned program under the direction of the Program Director. In compliance with established Samson College and USciences’ policies and procedures, the Instructor is a faculty position, which in addition to their regular faculty assignment coordinates and participates in activities supporting program involvement in governance and develops recommendations regarding scheduling, staffing, instructional program planning, resource allocation and facility use.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
With Department faculty, recommends search and committee composition for staffingIn consultation with Program Director, may identify the need to add classes or find adjuncts to cover courses. Develops and formats curriculum proposals. Participates in accreditation compliance. Works with Program Director in ordering supplies specialized to the program. Assists with the recruitment, retention, prerequisite challenges and tracking of students within the program. Monitors, ensures compliance and progress with student educatonal plans. Performs program and career advising. Works with the Marketing and Communications Department to coordinate faculty activities regarding marketing and recruitment, coordinate press releases, advertisements and other public information prompting programs and events. Participates in Samson College and university committees and serves as a liaison to other Samson faculty through these efforts. Actively engages in scholarly research, instruction and related activities.
Education and Experience:
Master of Science degree in exercise physiology, exercise science or a closely related field is required. Candidate should have a minimum of three years teaching experience in Kinesiology, exercise or wellness.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to teach in the following areas: exercise physiology, exercise testing & prescription, prevention & care of athletic injuries or advanced strength & conditioning. The candidate will be responsible for teaching six credits per semester. Further the candidate will have an ability to provide leadership and advisement to undergraduate students and be responsible for coordinating Fieldwork/Internship placements. A demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations is preferred. ACSM or CSCS certification is preferred.
