The Philadelphia College of Pharmacy (PCP), the founding college of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia invites applications for the position of Chair, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (available July 1, 2012).  The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, will be a proactive problem solver, and will have the vision and ability to bring the department to the next level of national recognition and achievement.

The department consists of 13 full-time faculty, ~50 graduate students and ~100 undergraduate majors. The department offers Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. degrees in the fields of pharmaceutics, pharmacology/toxicology, and pharmaceutical sciences, as well as participates in the Doctor of Pharmacy program. The department has ongoing funding from federal, private and industrial sources. In addition to the standard research infrastructure, the department has a fully accredited vivarium and industrial pharmacy laboratory. 

The Chair is expected to lead the department in strengthening the research infrastructure and in recruiting new faculty, anticipated to occur in the next 3 years, as well as in furthering the defined teaching mission. The Chair is responsible for the recruitment and development of faculty, development and administration of budgets, and contributes to the leadership and planning at the college and university levels.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in pharmacology, pharmaceutics or related sciences. The candidate must possess a distinguished record of teaching, research and service commensurate with the rank of Professor. Preference will be given to candidates with administrative/supervisory experience, as well as experience of mentoring graduate students, and teaching at a graduate and undergraduate level.
