Commencement Rehearsal Day

Mann Music Center for the Performing Arts

All graduates are required to participate in rehearsal unless excused by the Dean.

  • 10:30 am We will provide complimentary Bus transportation to the Mann Center For the Performing Arts, Buses depart from the parking lot behind the ARC.
  • 2:30 pm: Buses return from the Mann to the ARC.
  • 3:00 pm: Reception for Graduates and faculty given by the Alumni Association and Mr. Marvin Sampson (interim president)

This is your last official opportunity to party with classmates...it's a great sendoff!

Baccalaureate Service

9:00 am to 10:00 am McNeil Astra-Zeneca Auditorium, Rm 145

The organizations of Christian students will be holding a Baccalaureate Service on the morning of Commencement, Wednesday, May 23, 2012. The Service is scheduled from 9:00 to 10:00 am and will be held in STC-145. The speaker will be Dr. Fred Eckel, an alumnus of PCP/USP who has spent most of his professional career at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Pharmacy and UNC Hospitals. He serves as Executive Director of the Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International. His nephew, Sam Eckel, is a member of our graduating Class of 2012.

  • Admission tickets Required.
  • Gates open to ticketed guests for seating at 12:00 pm sharp.
  • Guests in wheelchairs or handicapped will enter through the main gate and will be directed to a special seating area.
  • Graduates report to Gate "A" by 12:30 pm.

Important notes about the Mann Music Center:

  • Balloons are not permitted on Mann Center Premises.
  • Ample parking available. Parking costs $15.00 per car.
  • The Mann Center is accessible to persons with disabilities.

Photography

Photographs may not be taken during the commencement ceremony. The University will provide a photographer to take photos as each graduate receives his/her diploma and shakes hands with President . These photographs will be mailed to the student's home address.

Free family photographs are available for University of the Sciences Legacy Families.

Invitations, Announcement Cards and Admission Tickets

Graduates will receive a formal invitation to commencement events, via US mail. Please make sure we have your current mailing address prior to April 1st. A mailing address update form is available from the Registrar's office.

All graduates will receive 10 announcement cards and 8 admission tickets for the Mann Center. These will be distributed by each College Dean's office on April 12th.

"Lawn seating" tickets are available to graduates needing additional tickets. While seating is in chairs, the area is not covered. Request lawn seating tickets from your Dean's Office no earlier that May 1st.

Diploma Distribution

Students receiving a degree in May and participating in Commencement
Diplomas are not distributed during the ceremony. Diploma pick up is immediately following the ceremony at the Mann Center. Diplomas are only released to the graduating student.

For students receiving a degree in May and not participating in Commencement,
The Registrar’s Office will deliver diplomas via UPS approximately one week after Commencement. Please be sure that the Registrar’s Office has a valid current address. Note: UPS will not deliver to a PO Box. If the addressee is not present to receive the delivery, UPS will leave the package at the door.
Graduates may pick up the diploma in person, but need to call the Registrar’s Office at 215.596.8813 to make arrangements. Graduates will be required to show a valid picture ID (such as a USciences ID or Driver’s License).


Other Graduation Dates The Registrar’s Office orders diplomas from the printer on the actual date of graduation for non-May graduation dates. The printer provides the diploma to USciences approximately six to eight weeks after receiving an order.
The Registrar’s Office will then deliver diplomas to graduates via UPS. Please be sure that the Registrar's Office has a valid current address prior to your graduation date. International Guests

International students may have family members overseas who need a Visa to enter the United States to attend commencement. University Dean's office can provide a letter of invitation with appropriate details needed for documentation. or contact Lynne Walker, extension 3135, or email: l.walker@usciences.edu

Special Assistance

The University will have a special assistance team available on Commencement Day at the Mann Music Center.

Accessibility at The Mann Center

The Mann Center is accessible for patrons. The main parking lot, box office, and main gate are all now in the middle level of the house where the handicapped seating is located. The concessions and plaza level also have handicap accessibility.

Parking for patrons with a valid handicap license plate or other authorized identification is available near the main gate. Patrons may also be dropped off in front of The Mann Center box office.

Special Seating

Reserved special seating is available for persons using a wheelchair. Please contact m.albert@usciences.edu

Hearing Impaired Guests

If you have a guest that is hearing impaired and requires assistance, contact m.albert@usciences.edu

Visually Impaired Guests

We are happy to accommodate visually impaired guests with seating closer to the stage. Please contact m.albert@usciences.edu

Please inform us if you are unable to walk up or down stairs or are visually or hearing impaired. We can make arrangements to accommodate you and enable you to participate in commencement activities.

University of the Sciences Legacy Families

A Legacy is an alumnus or student in a family with one or more generations of University of the Sciences/Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science graduates (living or deceased). This includes alumni and students who are related by marriage.

If this describes your family, please join us for free family photographs Wednesday, May 23nd, 2012, 10-11:30 a.m., McNeil STC, 1st fl room 137.

Participants will receive a Legacy Society photo frame. Photographs will be featured in the summer edition of the University Bulletin.

Committee on Commencement Awards

The Committee on Commencement Awards and Prizes is now soliciting profiles from BS, BSHS, PharmD, MOT, and DPT candidates who will be graduating in May of 2012. If you feel that you are eligible for one or more commencement awards/prizes that are listed, you need to submit a Commencement Award Application by 11:59 PM on April 1, 2012. (Note that some prizes listed in the university catalog are not included on our list since selection is not based on student applications). Application forms may be found at:
