Qualifications

  • Interested applicants must be a second, third, or fourth year student at USciences
  • In good academic standing at the University with at least a 2.8 GPA
  • Interested in developing lasting relationships with fellow students
  • Must not be overcommitted to other campus and personal responsibilities

Is this position paid?

Peer Mentors are volunteers in service to the University for a term of one academic year (fall and spring semester).

What skills will I gain as a Peer Mentor?

Students interested in developing their leadership skills will benefit from the responsibilities they take on as Peer Mentors.  Interacting with a diverse student population will enhance your communication skills, team building skills, and conflict resolution abilities. 

What type of activities will I engage in with my Mentees?

Peer Mentors are encouraged to connect with Mentees utilize the various campus events and resources.   Many events are offered to students at no cost.  Some examples include attending a USciences sporting event, multicultural festivities, Club and Organization events, and even meeting casually over lunch in the Wilson dining hall.
