Dual (BS/Medical Professional) Degree Programs, FAQs

How do I apply for a dual degree program?

Application is by invitation. Applicants accepted to USciences who meet the GPA and SAT requirements, and have indicated the “pre-med” specialization option on the Common Application, will automatically receive an application by mail.

May I apply for more than one program?

You may apply for only one dual degree program. Should you not be admitted to the dual degree program for which you applied, you will not be considered for another dual degree program.

What is the application timeframe?

Dual Degree applications are mailed approximately one week after the offer of admission to USciences is sent to the accepted student. The priority deadline for receipt of the completed Dual Degree application is January 9. It is suggested that you begin the process of consideration by applying to USciences using the Common Application no later than November 15, in order to meet the January 9 deadline. Be sure to select the “pre-med” option.

Does USciences require an interview for Dual Degree applicants?

Yes, an in-person interview, held on campus, is required for consideration.

How will I know if I am invited to interview for the program I applied for?

If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted at the email address which you list on your dual degree application. Interviews are held in January – March.

If I am selected for an interview and I interview, when will I learn whether I have been offered admission to the program?

Decision letters will be mailed in early April to the address on file with the USciences Admission Office.

If I am offered admission to the dual degree program, what must I do to earn an interview with the respective professional school?

While at USciences, you must maintain a specified cumulative grade point average (determined by individual programs), earn no grade less than a B- in any course, and take the required graduate admission test (MCAT, DAT, OAT, GRE) achieving the score determined by the respective professional school.

Do I have to declare a major to apply for a Dual Degree program?

For the eight year programs, you may be a Misher Pre-Professional student (undeclared) for the first two years at USciences. For the seven year programs, you must be a Biology major.
