Janet hopes her love and enthusiasm, coupled with her experience and success in the profession, will encourage students to work hard and strive for excellence in the pre-professional phase at University of the Sciences. As a board-certified and licensed PA, she collaborates with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine’s professional-phase PA program in the development and delivery of the curriculum, which will better position our students in today’s health care environment.
Her medical experience began at Lehigh University, where she received a dual major degree in biology and speech and drama. While at Lehigh, work-study placed her in the health center, where she worked as a medical attendant, doing H & P’s (histories and physical exams) and carrying out doctor’s orders during the off-peak hours. She later earned her certification as an Emergency Medical Technician and ran with the ambulance for many years. She received her Master’s in Physician Assistant studies at Beaver College. She practiced dermatology before accepting her position at University of the Sciences. She continues to work part-time in a dermatology office, where she allows our students to shadow her and learn more about what it means to be a PA.
Janet is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants and Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. She has also lectured in the United States and abroad on dermatology and PA studies.
