Medical Laboratory Science Curriculum

You’ll acquire a broad knowledge of basic and health sciences during your first three years. Your fourth year is spent in clinical rotations at an affiliated hospital, where you will gain invaluable experience working in state-of-the-art facilities with the latest medical equipment and devices. You may also obtain a part-time job in some of these labs as early as your second year.

The following is a typical curriculum for medical laboratory science students entering the University of the Sciences in Fall 2015; other students should refer to their academic advisor for their curricula.

First Year

Second Year

Basics of Microbiology
Organic Chemistry I, II
Organic Chemistry Lab I, II

Multidisciplinary Inquiry Requirements
General Education Requirements
Basic Concepts and Procedures in Medical Laboratory Science
Medical Laboratory Science Elective or Molecular Biology Requirement

Third Year

Medical Technology Seminar
Anatomy and Physiology I, II
Survey of Biochemistry
Introduction to Communication
Immunology Requirement
General Education Requirement
General Education Electives
Medical Laboratory Science Elective or Molecular Biology Requirement

Fourth Year (takes place at an affiliated hospital laboratory)

Clinical Hematology/Coagulation
