Fellowship Overview

The two-year fellowship at Janssen Scientific Affairs, LLC (JSA) is designed to provide advanced skill training in Medical and scientific information and communications. The program, based in Janssen’s Titusville, NJ and Horsham, PA facilities, is divided into three distinct areas: Medical Information, Medical Information call center, and clinical practice.

Medical Communications Call Center - Titusville, NJ

The fellow is an integral team member at Janssen's healthcare professional directed call center. This 6-month rotation provides an opportunity to enhance interpersonal communications through engagement on company products with external healthcare professionals and consumers.

Medical Information - Horsham, PA or Titusville, NJ

This 12-month rotation in Medical Information provides the fellow with the opportunity gain in-depth knowledge and advance professional skills in communication of Medical and scientific information. The rotation provides an opportunity to enhance literature retrieval and analysis skills, improve scientific writing, and utilize critical thinking and clinical knowledge to ensure fair and balanced communications of product information.

Clinical Practice Rotation 

The fellow will have the opportunity to spend 6 months in an institutional setting where they will utilize their clinical knowledge and drug information skills to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop:

  • Skills in providing drug information services at the institutional level
  • Verbal and written communication skills by delivering presentations and writing drug class reviews
  • Awareness of industry impact on pharmacy operations and expenditures, drug procurement process, and drug distribution systems.
  • Expand knowledge about the functions of the hospital Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee/Subcommittees
  • Awareness of industry – healthcare provider relationships as they pertain to hospital practice 
  • ·Clinical practice exposure provides the fellow with the opportunity to provide evidence-based medicine to patient care and pharmacy practice.

Fellowship Term & Schedule

The fellowship term is 2-years, starting on July 1 and ending the last day of June. Fellowship goals and objectives will apply for each of the three rotational areas. On average, the fellow will spend approximately 4 days per week at the JSA facility and one day per week on campus at the University of the Sciences.
