Chemistry Major & Undergraduate Chemistry Degree

Chemistry is often referred to as the “central science,” because it interfaces with so many other sciences, including biology (biochemistry), geology (geochemistry), astronomy (astrochemistry), and physics (biophysical chemistry or chemical physics.)

University of the Sciences' chemistry program is similarly diverse, providing you with a fundamental understanding of all five major areas of chemistry: analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry and biochemistry.

In addition to your work in the classroom, you will have many opportunities to hone your chemistry skills in the University’s laboratories, where you will learn using a wide range of equipment and sophisticated instrumentation.

The Study of a Comprehensive System

Chemistry focuses on the structure and behavior of atoms and molecules, the composition and properties of both natural and synthesized compounds, the reactions between substances and associated energy changes, and the fundamental laws that unite these phenomena into a comprehensive system. The field influences nearly every aspect of contemporary life, so chemists are in very high demand. Our program curriculum provides the foundation for students to enter any number of career fields, as well as to proceed on to graduate or professional school.
