American Institute of Biological Sciences, Beta Sigma Chapter
The American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS) is a national nonprofit scientific organization open to individuals interested in the life sciences. The Beta Sigma student chapter, open to all majors at the University, can be a fulfilling and rewarding part of your time as a student in the Department of Biological Sciences.
The chapter’s professional activities allow you to experience the diversity and complexity of the life sciences. These activities include:
- Seminars presented by visiting scientists
- Trips to museums, including the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., the Museum of Natural History in New York, and the National Aquarium in Baltimore
- Weekend natural history outings to the Brandywine area, Hawk Mountain and the New Jersey Pinelands
The Pre-Medical Society brings together students of all majors who are considering a career as a medical professional. Completing a pre-medical curriculum and applying to appropriate schools can be confusing and frustrating. The Pre-Medical Society serves as a support group that shares and supplies important information with its members to make the pathway to professional school as smooth as possible. The organization welcomes guest speakers to campus and sponsors tours of area medical schools.
