Occupational Therapy Entry Options

There are three entry routes to our DrOT program:

  • Guaranteed freshman entry into the major: Our accelerated pathway to the DrOT provides you with a BS in health sciences after 3½ years and a doctor of occupational therapy (DrOT) after an additional 2½ years of study, with no additional application to enter the professional phase.
  • Entry into the DrOT program with an earned BS degree: If you’ve already received a bachelor’s degree and have taken our prerequisite courses, you can complete the doctoral program in just 4 years.
  • Transferring in: Students who have taken college coursework, but have not received a bachelor’s degree may transfer into the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of the DrOT program, depending on the coursework that has been completed. Please see our transfer student website for details.

We also offer admission to our current MOT program for students who have already taken some college coursework or obtained a BS degree:

  • Entry into the post-baccalaureate MOT program: If you’ve already received a bachelor’s degree and have taken our prerequisite courses, you can complete the program in just 2½ years. But why not spend only 1½ years more and come out with a doctorate?
