Undergraduate Research Awards
The Martin and Karen Gibbs' Prize in Biological Sciences and Chemistry is a graduation prize consisting of a cash award and certificate. In any given year, one award is granted to one graduating senior in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry or Medical Laboratory Science, or two awards are granted (one in the chemical sciences and one in the biological sciences.) Applications for this graduation award should be submitted in the Spring of the senior year to the Chair of Biological Sciences and are due at the end of March. Requirements on which the award is based include:
- Formal presentation of the research at a scientific meeting.
- Letter of recommendation from the research advisor.
- Submission of a two-page project summary of their research written by the student.
- GPA greater than or equal to 2.5 (submit an unofficial transcript).
