Biography

Dr. Dueñas is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy in the Department of Pharmacy Practice & Pharmacy Administration. She is currently establishing a collaborative clinical practice site with Rite Aid Pharmacy and Cooper Family Medicine. Her clinical practice goals are to develop a medication therapy management (MTM) service at both these sites that meets the medication-related needs of patients and coordinates care among community pharmacists, physicians, and other members of the health care team. Dr. Dueñas’ teaching philosophy is committed to the advancement of the pharmacist’s role within community practice. Her research interests focuses on exploring new business models that support the delivering of pharmacist-provided MTM services in the community setting. 

Dr. Dueñas earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions. She also completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency with an emphasis in Community Care at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy.

Dr. Dueñas is an active member of state and national pharmacy organizations and is currently serving on The Pennsylvania Project which is a coalition of members from the seven schools of pharmacy in Pennsylvania to create a statewide standard of pharmacist-provided patient care practices for medication therapy management. She is also a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) and the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), for which she serves as the advisor.
