Careers in Environmental Science
Employment opportunities for environmental scientists are expected to rise as the continuing need for companies and organizations to comply with environmental laws and regulations creates more jobs. As the population increases and moves to more environmentally sensitive locations, you will be needed to assess building sites for potential hazards and to address issues of pollution control and waste disposal.
A degree in environmental science will prepare you, through an interdisciplinary approach, for entry-level positions in private industry, the nonprofit sector and governmental agencies where problems dealing with environmental issues are addressed. Graduates of the program will also be well prepared to pursue further academic training in:

Graduates of the Department of Biological Sciences earn competitive salaries immediately following graduation. According to a survey conducted by our Career Services Division, the department’s alumni from the Class of 2007 earned salaries ranging from $35,000 to more than $70,000 upon graduating.
