Add or Change your alternate e-mail address

When you create a Windows Live Hotmail account you can specify an alternate e-mail address where we can send reset instructions if you forget your password.
To add or change an alternate e-mail address:
- In the upper-right corner of the Windows Live Hotmail home page, click Options, and then click More options.
- Under Manage your account, click View and edit your personal information.
- If you want to add an alternate e-mail address, next to Alternate e-mail address, click Add.

If you want to change your alternate e-mail address, next to Alternate e-mail address, click Change.
- Type your password, type your alternate e-mail address two times, and then click Save.
Note
The alternate e-mail address must be an address that you can access without signing in to Windows Live Hotmail.
